Pontiac
The Pontiac brand was a renowned and acknowledged brand in its hay days but it has stopped manufacturing cars in the year 2009. The cars that came from the Pontiac manufacturing unit were really wonderful and were able to withhold themselves against the most severe of competitions. The manufacturers of the Pontiac unit were a part of the General Motors family. The best thing that was the fulcrum of any Pontiac car was the great performance orientation that it came with.
The models that come from the Pontiac manufacturer are the G3, G5, G6, G8 in the number series and those that had names were the Solstice, Vibe and Torrent. The very first of the Pontiac cars were seen in the year 1907 and they were made in the Oakland Car Company which was located in Pontiac in Michigan. It was started by Edward Murphy. Then the Pontiac company was taken over by General Motors in the year 1909. The first Pontiac car was manufactured in the year 1926 and it was called the Chief of the Sixes.
The Pontiac manufacturer did really well in the 1930s and 40s and manufactured several varieties of coupes, wagons and sedans. The buyers lapped these cars up because they were low priced and yet came up with a whole lot of quality and performance that was incomparable to the other cars around.
Then, in the year 1950, there was a new car called the Pontiac Bonneville introduced. This is the kind of car that was not only stylish and had a great design to it but was also a great cruiser. This brought about the right kind of mix of luxury that was high end and also was able to perform really well.
The next car that was introduced was the Pontiac Tempest. This was a far more compact car and was able to offer superior performance. The depression and the tight financial situation saw the Pontiac Company downsizing its cars to meet the needs of the tight situation and the financial crunch. Then there was the introduction of the compact Tempest in the year 1964. This was the turning point in the history of the Pontiac as it brought about a whole lot of sales in its kitty. The Tempest was one car that had an extremely powerful engine to it. The 389 cubic inch V8 engine ensures that the car is powerful and a wonderful quality about them.
The Pontiac is the kind of car that is so very small and compact that it is bound to work on really small amounts of gas. This goes on to make it one of the cars that work really well for a person on a tight budget and looking for fuel efficiency. The Pontiac usually produces more than 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The other models are Vibe, G6 Sedan and the G5 Coupe. The G3 has the 1.6L Ecotec four cylinder engine and gives 106 hp. The engine is either manual or automatic.
