KIA

KIA comes from a Korean car manufacturer. The cars that are made by KIA are those that cater to the niche of budget conscious buyers. The plus point that KIA holds in the car market is that its cars are priced extremely competitively and far below the prices that are charged by competitors for similar sized and designed models. The KIA cars are known for the high end quality and specialized features that they offer in their cars in spite of them being priced really reasonably.

KIA was first started as a company in Korea in the year 1944 as a steel tubing and bicycle parts company. The word KIA is a Chinese word and means to arise and shine.

The first vehicles if they can be called that, that were produced by KIA was a bicycle and later on a scooter. The next was certainly the right step to go ahead and start manufacturing cars.

By the 1960s, KIA had set up a plant at Sohari in Korea in order to start manufacturing cars. This was a step ahead in ensuring that their dreams did come true. This was the first internal combustion gasoline engine in Korea.

The first car was launched a year later and it was called the Brisa. This was the first Korean passenger car to be launched. Later on the same kind of technology that saw its first off shoots in this car was used for the high end ones like the Peugeot and Fiat.

The other models that were launched by KIA one after the other were Concord, Potentia, Capital and Pride. The Pride was got to the US by Ford Motors in the year 1987. The car was known as the Ford Fiesta in the US.

Later on saw the launch of the KIA Avella and it was called the Ford Aspire in the US.

By the early 1990s, KIA realized that it could sell its car by its own name and that's what it did with its new car the Sephia. This is the SUV that had a gradual phased roll out and became immensely popular with the buyers within no time. The thing that people really liked about the Sephia was the spaciousness that it offered them as well as the versatility that came along with it.

This spurred KIA on to make another car which was the Sportage SUV in 1995. This car had a nationwide rollout and it was a grand success. Until now the company was doing really well but in the year 1998 it was merged with Hyundai another Korean car manufacturer. This was because of the financial problems that it faces. However, this is far behind the manufacturers now after the merger. It has been on the upswing in terms of the production happening at its manufacturing units and the customer confidence that lies in the consistent good quality that it delivers all the time. The best thing to have boosted customer confidence is the warranty that is offered alongside.
