Jaguar
The way the Jaguar Car Company started was in the year 1922 when two young motorcycle enthusiastic young men William Lyons and William Walmsley decided to start a side car company. This was on until the First World War.
Then, in the year 1926 the first car called the small Austin was built. This was supposed to be a people's car. Although it had the most frugal and simple of design to it, it sure was a beginning.
In the year 1933, Lyons bought out his partner and renamed the company to be known as SS Cars Limited. In the year 1935, the car was associated with the word Jaguar. The cars that they manufactured in the history of the Jaguar are limousines, sports cars and convertibles. They were fitted with significantly powerful engines like the 1`.5, 2.5 and 3.5 liter engines. The most sought after car of that time was the SS 100 which ran on a 3.5 liter engine. In fact this was the fastest of cars that ran on the pre-war roads.
After the war years were behind there was the updating of the older models of the Jaguar company and this was started in the year 1946. This was the time when their new sports cars began to be rolled out. The first one to be launched was a sparkling new sports car called the XK 120. The inspiration for this car was drawn from the BMW 328 model. It had a 6-cylinder engine to is and a capacity of 3442 cc.
In the year 1948 the fastest car was introduced by Jaguar called the XK 12o Roadster. This car could go at a speed of as much as 120 mph. The best features about this new range car besides the speed at which it could fly were the superior styling and the road blocking. This is the car that even at such a great speed offers an extremely smooth ride. In the year 1951 there came the XX 120 Fixed Head Coupe. This had a new kind of veneer dashboard, the wind-up windows and then the 1953 saw another new car launched XK 120 Drop head Coupe. This had a fully trimmed convertible.
By the time the mid-fifties came along Jaguar was only selling and associated in the minds of the customers with cars that were excellent quality sports car with great luxury features associated with them.
Then, the Jaguar MKI was launched in 1955 to help strengthen its position, in the domestic market. The company had realized that it didn't want to operate in foreign overseas markets only whereby it could be held at ransom by the government out there. This was the car that was made exclusively for the home market and keeping in mind the wants and needs of the customers out there.
The buyers loved all that this new range of jaguar had to offer them. It had a larger glass area and a newly designed dashboard. Later on there were other Jaguars like the 3.8 S and the MK X Jaguar.
