The Audi was founded by August Horche and the rest is history as they say. In the year 1899 the company was first established in Ehrenfeld district in Cologne in Germany. It is one of the oldest of German automobile companies and its brand logo of four rings is easily recognizable anywhere in the world. The very first car from this manufacturer was rolled out in the year 1901.
In the year 1932, there were four vehicle manufacturing companies that merged to form the modern day Audi. That is what the four rings on the brand logo symbolizes, the coming together of the four companies namely Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer.
There have been several innovations that have been linked with the Audi such as in the year 1921 it went on to launch the first left-hand drive car. This was called the Audi Type K. this kind of left hand drive was to give the driver a better view of the road that they were driving on. In the year 1926, came the first German eight cylinder car called the Horch 303 Berlin.
